People get so stuck in the gerbil wheel of busy lives that they don't have time to look at their own needs.
"I wouldn't even know where to start," is a comment I often hear when talking to successful people with busy lives and families to support.
But if you don't take the time out to reflect on what your Soul is calling out for every now and then, you end up spinning your wheels, spending your energy maintaining systems that don't serve your highest good, sometimes confusion, stagnation and anxiety.
No one wants to end the year looking back thinking they didn't really grow in life that year. This is your chance to take inventory on what you've accomplished and what you'd like to work on for the last season of the year!
This is why Intention Setting is so important and why I built a simple process in my Purpose Mastery Program that I want to share with you today!
Practice:
Write down 3-5 areas or subjects in your life that are challenging you right now. Meaning, they could be frustrating, saddening, confusing, unclear or unmet.
For each area, write down the following questions:
Is this a growth-edge for me or an unmet need or both?
A growth edge is a sense that you want more than what that area of life is giving you now, but more "learning" from you. (For example, "not having an inspiring career and lifestyle" could be a growth edge for someone because it requires more learning about their Purpose and how to achieve that path, but "wanting more "Travel" is not, because they already know how to travel.)
An unmet need is something that doesn't require more learning but does require doing. (For example, "Travel" would be an Unmet need of mine, but it's not a growth edge)
What would having the desired outcome give me?
For example, "Travel" would provide a sense of freedom and inspiration and a reset for me. Being completely in line with my Purpose and doing inspiring work would help me feel more at ease with my life, happier, more fulfilled.
Are there ways I can meet my unmet needs or provide the sense of the desired outcome for myself now, even in small ways? Write those down.
Go through each of your challenges and ask your Higher Self (the part of you that knows better, that is omniscient) "Is this the right time to work on this area of my life?"
Put these in order of importance for you to start on today!
After doing this exercise, you will have a clear idea of how to meet your more easily met needs and build that into your plan for the next 3 months.
You will also know what areas of your life need tending that require significantly more support for your soul purpose to be realized!
